This is the first page of the "engagement" album I am putting together--everything leading up to the wedding. The journaling reads:
On October 2, 2002, almosta year after we began dating, Matt and I went out running together in the nearby park. Matt faked a side cramp and stopped underneath a tree where our initials happened to be carved. Taped to the tree was a letter for me, which at the end asked the question, "Will you marry me?" Matt had hidden the ring in his shorts pocket.
I, of course, said yes! When we returned to my apartment, the first person we told was my roommate, Amy. She had almost ruined the surprise by coming running with us, but at the last moment, had gotten lazy! Then I called my parents, who already knew that Matt was going to propose, because he had asked my dad for his blessing a few days earlier.
