hey Jenny, this ia marvelous.. I love the sewing..love the paper, love the gingham replica ( I love gingham)love the flowers & trims, buttons, everything
Oh Jenny, this is another one of your amazingly intricate and symbolic los. I just love how many sewing related embellies and elements you included to make this such a lovely whole...it's sort of a sewing basket on paper.
This is a pic of me and my friend doing a demonstration at 4H days. The subject of our demonstration was how to put together a sewing basket.
Because I found I had this Club Scrap cs with the dress form on it and thought it would be great for a sewing themed lo, I pretty much used the sketch as the left side of the page so that I could keep the dress form showing. I tried to use a lot of sewing related elements on this lo.
I decided I need a pink border to this page, so I used a border punch on the background cs so the background would be a little smaller and allow me to adhere it to pink pp so I would hve that border. Then I used pink sewing thread and sewed around the two blocks the cs had printed on it. I chose the pink floral pp for the background of my sketch side, because it reminded me of a gingham print that you might see in a fabric shop. The pink lace at the top was cut from a piece of pp..yep, it's paper. I added the measuring tape ribbon below that, then added the pink sticky stitches (yeah, I know it's more like crocheting than sewing LOL ). I added some actual hemming lace, rick rack and buttons. I also used some lacy trim and ribbon bow (scrapbooking embellies) that gave the feel of something you'd find in a sewing stash. I found several pkgs of Jolee's embellies that were sewing themed...the little button cards, scissors, thread and needle, pin cushion, roll of fabric, and pattern pieces sheet...of course those had to be added to this page! (Had them FOREVER!) I added the journaling block, so I could keep with the idea of the sketch, but decided to add my title there. I chose those alphas, because they were green (kind of like 4H) and because the reminded me of a decorative stitch.
The grouping of flowers was not on the sketch, but there was a person's head that the camera flash had hit on and it made a very bright spot at the bottom of my old, dark pic and caused that person's head to be the first thing you focused on, so I covered it up with the flowers, LOL..plus it's a girly kind of lo, so I figured it worked!
I am also entering this to the JULY* ATT: BOYS AND GIRLS- 4 WAYS + BONUS WAY Challenge.
