Such a lot of awesome creative work in this stunning page. I'm a hoarder who love's seahorses also, and they look great holding the title banner. The photo is beautifuland the bubbles are fabulous.
This is so cool such detail, had to zoom image to see all the treasures. I think it's wonderful & heartwarming that you kept so many bits & pieces from the past. I also think your bubbles are such a great idea!! :))
Wonderful page; love the soft colours, the seahorses and bubbles...superb! Lots of great texture going on around the photo; your framing is awesome! Another lovely showpiece!
It's nice that you incorporated the instruments and computer piece, items which are part of your son's life. I love those gold seahorses, carrying the beautifully done title.
It's so much fun to enlarge your LO's and look for all the different embellishments you incorporate in your LO's - love that so many of them have such special meanings for you and all the wonderful techniques that you use - wonderful LO ~
This is gorgeous, Melissa! I love that you incorporated so many items that have personal meaning, and your texture work is fabulous-the seahorses and bubbles look amazing! so much detail-I could look at this for ages and keep finding new and interesting details :)
So happy you play along at OUAS. Another beautiful LO , with this time very soft colors. It fits so well with the couch on the photo. And all the little rememberings on it. The bubbles are shining like crazy, very funny!
Very interesting, fabulous layout! Love the sparkles and the bubbles!!! I have never heard of magic medium...but I have got to have some! I love the way you describe each item and the techniques you use!
Wow, so many pretty beads and crystals; lots of pretty shimmer. I like that you added items to represents parts of his personality, including the party favor. Pretty butterfly, embells & pic too.
My son is in the middle. On the left is my sister-in-law. On the right is her niece. Felix the cat is on the far left. A long time ago, my husband and I took my son to New York to be with family, and to be Christened. The lo is to include journaling, mine is hidden behind the page. You can see the edge of it , and its fastened with a paperclip.
I put some things in that have happened so far in the last 22 yrs. The music stand on the left for his many years playing saxophone in the school band. The electric guitar beneath the photo for his years of lessons with that. Also at the bottom a silver metal graduation cap, for his High School graduation. Right above the guitar neck you can see a computer type thing. It's from a party favor my son got at friends 5th birthday celebration. Its from a mini calculator that comes with the childs name on it. Sometimes I think I'm crazy for saving all the things I do, but now I'm glad I have, lol.
From left to right here are the things people have given me. At the bottom left of the pic is a small piece of mother-of-pearl in the shape of a flower, from Quick Silver. At the top right of the pic is a metal starfish charm from my sis. I put gold and silver liquid pearls on and some gold microbeads. I think it came out pretty good, the texture resembles a real starfish. To the right of the bottom right gold starfish carrying the Grow banner is a blue glass gem. It's part of an earring I wore to the Christening party my mother in law gave . Below the Grow title is a ZVA pearl flourish from 48FiveTime. My sincere thanks for the stuff you people have given me! The "bubbles" all over are texture paste put on with stencil I made. I used a hole punch and some cardboard. Nice because I could just throw it out when I was done ,vs cleaning paste off. I used liquid pearls, blue lumiere, and blue acrylic paint. The gold seahorses are also paste, made with a stencil. There are two butterflies made with clear gloss gel on cellophane, then brushed with liq. pearls. The blue beads on the edges of the circles and photo are hand sewn on. On the alphas I used several colors of Vintaj patina paint, then crackle, then some brown chalk.
The gel butterflies are hard to see. One is to the right of the pic,the other is by the top left of the pic. There are some sparkly ocean theme buttons around the edges. I got them at Hob Lob. I cut the backs off so they would lie flat. On top of the bubbles is Dimensional Magic, by Mod Podge. I think it gives a very nice shine to them. At the right of the pic is a silver dream catcher charm.
Im debating if I should write about why this has an underwater theme. Im pretty wordy here already. I thought it would be nice to have the title as a banner. It seems butterflies and birds are used a lot to carry them in los. I like seahorses , so I used them. It could have also been the teal dress my sil is wearing. It reminds me of water. Thanks for reading all this if you've gotten this far! And thanks in advance for your wonderful comments if you write them, they mean a lot to me!
