The color-scheme (which you rocked, BTW) drew me to your page, but then I read your story...I am so thankful that you all were not there, but no doubt, you were even more heartsick than the rest of us who had not just been to NYC. I had been in WTC, though, so I could picture myself in the lobby and on the observation deck, and it was a sobering thought...our DS12 was 4 mos old at the time, too. DD14, our oldest, was only 2. As you say, they really didn't understand what had happened until a few years later.
Oh my, so amazing you were not there. It really makes you think about how and why things happen. This is such a precious memory of that horrible day. She looks so sweet!
What a day it was for the whole country.. I remember I was getting ready for work and had Good Morning America on and saw the first plane and then all of the sudden the second hit, I thought it was a trailer for a new action movie until they said "this is really happening" my heart sunk.. Great story and beautiful lo and pics!
These pics were taken on day of 9/11/01. My Darling Sweethearts cheering us up.
It was a day of Total Shock and Sadness and Disbelief personally for us. My husband was very close to a formal job offer from a company located in the Trade Center Towers. We were there just days before but returned home because our son was very ill.
J was shaving the morning of 9/11/01, preparing to speak on the phone with the company, when the first plane hit. That call never took place. It was a very strange feeling knowing how close we were to being in NYC at Trade Center that day. We were so Sad and worried about our friends in NYC and all over.
My DD appeared in front of us to save the day! She wanted to be a Fairy Princess and cast a spell on ALL to bring Peace And Happiness. Later she recruited her brothers who were pretty much clueless to the situation the World was in that day.
J and I returned to NYC a few weeks later and witnessed the 2 beams of light from the skyline as we landed. Our hearts were sick. The kids were such a beam of light for us during this dark time.
That's my youngest peeking up from the laundry basket, he was just 4 months old. DD is holding hand of my oldest son. He pretty much just had to follow her lead! LOL!
