Since it was Halloween, everything in the Princess Patter (the ships daily activities newsletter) had “spooky” or “scary” before or after the name of every activity. We skipped the afternoon movie, “Young Frankenstein”.

At 4:30 we played Halloween trivia and didn't win but we did respectfully well - we got 15 out of 20 – not great, but not the worst either. Some of the questions were, “What was the first and last name of the main character in The Exorcist?” I knew her name was Regan but the book was current over 40 years ago – I didn't remember her last name was McNeil but neither did anyone else so we got ½ point for Regan. And now I know why zombies wear chains. It is because the zombies had once been slaves. We knew how to kill vampires (steak through the heart), werewolves (silver bullets) but I had forgotten that Boris Karloff was the original movie Mummy!

After trivia Bill went to the hot tub while I took a shower, washed and rolled my hair, gave myself a facial and got dressed up in my black widow outfit. Really just a long formal dress made of fabric that is red from one angle and black from another and is covered in spider webs. Bill will not wear costumes for Halloween but he did agree to wear my pumpkin-face sweatshirt and we had pictures taken in front of the ship's Halloween set. They had a really cute set with pumpkins, tombstones and spider webs against a black backdrop.

He took a picture of us standing nicely next to each other and then the photographer instructed me to pretend to strangle Bill and for him to make a funny face. We don't buy a lot of ship pictures but I already made my mind up – if they are even half-way decent, we are buying them!

Then we went to the 3rd floor railing overlooking the atrium for a surprise performance. The cruise ship director and his crew were dressed as zombies and performed a choreographed routine to Michael Jackson's “Thriller”. Really cute. When we got there the zombies were lying on the floor, on the baby grand piano and scattered around looking kind of dead and bloody. When the music started playing they all got up and danced in the “Thriller” routine.
