I love all the layers. I thinks it's the colors. I always try to use no more than two colors plus a neutral (black, brown, white). I would paint a neutral color on top of the colors, let is sit for a minute, then use a baby wipe or damp cloth and wipe the color off here and there to see the colors underneath. I may even add one tiny work somewhere. There is no much to look at that it would just add that something extra.
I understand what you mean. I go back and redo my pieces all the time until I like it. Sometimes I give up and just trash it. The one think about paint is that you can alwaya paint over it. Can't wait to see it.
Don't know how I missed this one too! This is very cool, but I see what you mean about the brightness. I think it's the yellow that does it, so maybe leave that color out and use more muted colors. It is very cool though - love the idea!!
Ok, maybe I am late chiming in here, but maybe I can help. If it is still the way it is here, white, then maybe try an ombre effect - colors starting from one corner to the other, in a range of shades of one color, or complimentary colors...thinking for example...three shades of tan, or yellow...blending into eachother with maybe some pink? Or shades of aqua and grey/white...
Hi there Caroline!
I know the feeling....I can also start with a project with a certain look in mind and halfway having no idea what to do next. It helps to put it aside for a while and look at it another day.
First let me say that I really like all the embellishments you put in this piece. When I make a layout or a canvas I also love to add a lot of color but I like to tone it down a bit by using gesso. I often use a sponge to tone it done randomly, and if I think it's still too bright I will give it another layer of gesso. For this piece I would use 2 or maybe 3 colors and not color it completely and keep some of the white space. Tone it done with some gesso and just add a text or small quote with maybe one colored flower. I would add the word "fun" because that's how it looks like to me... that you were having a lot of fun with all the embellishments to make this!!
Hope I was a bit of a help. hugs Ingrid xxx
I love it the way it is , but I think some words are missing . Perhaps a poen or something like that. And then some multicolored cheeseclothes very thin around it? I dont know, but I have the feeling as beautiful as it is already....there must come something what is the focal point. Bye bye, have a nice day!!
Damn, maybe you shouldn't change it? I kinda like it the way it was. But maybe you could try some darker colors, some dark glimmer mists, distressing? huh...
C, I loved it the way it was, oh no!! I know what it is like to not be satisfied with a project and have scrapped a few. Usually time is what helps. come back to it a month from now and it will look totally different. maybe a different color palette or something like that but the base is wonderful. I myself like the rainbow colors but let it stew awhile and see how you feel about it. my two cents. you will notice how often i post remade cards that have sat and i ripped them apart or added more to them. it happens, don't fret. blessings..........D
well, I think both are gorgeous! Ive never done one of these either. I think I like the one before this, cuz the colors are more muted. I guess you could lightly brush a darker color over whatevers too light with some ink or paint on your fingers? Ok, I know theres someone who did this style I just noticed. I'll send it to you. The artists name is Kraftelina. She posted a beautiful one in this style today. I think she does a lot of them.
Okay SC, I thought it looked pretty good except the colors are to bright if you want it more grungy maybe using some darker colors. Just a thought. I like all the things you put on it, wouldn't change that. I really think it is the colors. Although I am not an expert on these have only done one! I know you have to be happy with it otherwise you will hide it some where!:) Anxious to see what others think!:)
So, I NEED your help?? Yes; I could have just shared this as a finished project, pretend I was happy & done?? I think those who have got used to me know I couldn't do that if not truth... So... This shows where I was upto before I decided I hadn't done enough, wasn't happy with blending & basically every part then didn't appeal. So I tried to 'fix' it - ummmmmm As you'll see from mmiddle image I ended up scraping & removing parts. Then I realised I couldn't do half job so Last pic shows as it is now. A few replacements & A LOT of Gesso & white paint (still bit yellowy but had enough)
Having agonised for whole day I thought "why don't I ask my friends at sb.com for help?" And here I am.... Obviously not compulsory but I would SO appreciate your ideas & suggestions. Do I add more, do I try to replicate, I'd love it to be grungey & distressed but no idea where to start? You would think with all your inspiration, blogs, YouTube etc, I would know more huh?? If you have read this far - Phew right? My thanks go out to you. You're the best!!! :))
