Okay, Hyman's in on the bucket novel. Fried potatoes, cheese grits and shrimp. I'm drooling on my keyboard. Cute bg paper with the anchors. Nice use of the stickers as accents. I love that!
John and Danielle rave about Hyman's Seafood Restaurant so we couldn't leave Charleston with stopping there. It was only a short walk from the Market and the line outside was only about 15 minutes long so we decided to eat there. (John and Danielle said it is not uncommon to wait over an hour in line because they don't take reservations.) Now we understand why Southern Living Magazine polls indicate that out of 18 states from Delaware to Florida to Texas, Hyman's rated #1 in the Southeast for 9 years running. The Food Channel Network listed in the Top 5 in “The Best in Seafood” category. The list of ratings and awards would take an entire page to type out!
We split a $15.95 combo meal with fried clams, shrimp and calamari and it was more than we could eat. We had a coupon for a free cup of potato soup and before we ordered they brought us a complimentary order of cheese grits with 2 fried green tomatoes on top and a plate of hushpuppies. In addition we also had fried potatoes which were out-of-this-world good and Bill had coleslaw while I had an individual sweet potato casserole. One meal was more than enough for both of us; we couldn't finish the fried potatoes, hush puppies or the sweet potato casserole. The calamari was the best I've ever eaten – so tender! The shrimp was excellent. The fried clams were good, but not as special as the calamari and shrimp.
