During our bar tour we stopped into the Pirate theme Absinthe Bar.

Absinthe liquor has a very high alcohol content and was once banned in many countries including the United States.

When making an Absinthe drink, the bartender pours the liquor into a glass and then lays a perforated Absinthe spoon across the top. A sugar cube is place on top of the spoon. Ice cold water is then poured onto the sugar cube, which melts into the glass. The drink is then served. It tastes like black liquorice. Yuck! We drank a couple of sips and was done. I don't see how anyone can actually drink it. Though, it was a pretty cool process making the drink. The pictures show how the drink was made.
