He's adorable! We have a lot of Mennonite people in our area, and more of them are starting to attend high school now, but in years past, their view on education was much like that of the Amish. That star and twine banner is terrific!
Don't think I've ever seen one of their schools. It would be fascinating to sit in on a class, wouldn't it? I attended a one room K-8 school for Kindergarten. Then a 2 room one, that had 4-6th grade. There were only 4 of us in 4th grade and I was the only girl! Cute design and little boy!
The Amish on Eucation The Amish operate one-room parochial schools that are taught by teachers with an eight grade education. Although Amish families stop sending their children to school after 8th grade, the society itself acts as a vocational school. Children learn how to be farmers, homemakers, carpenters, and tradesmen. By the time they are teens Amish girls know how to cook a full meal and boys understand farm operations.
I thought when I was on my trip how interesting the classroom of a school was, I was surprised that their education was only as high as 8th grade.. Just wanted to share some of my trip with the Amish boy and the school that I had taken a picture on our tour.
