Hi Laura! I wanted to tell you that I saw the card you were talking about at the store the other day and was blown away by the price. I know I commented on this before, but just had to tell you how much I love yours!
BRAVO for you! I'm like you, shocked at the prices of cards these days. I always tell myself that I spend too much on supplies, then I remember 5 cards can cost $25 or more, for nice ones. I love your spirit, and your card is adorable. She'll appreciate all the more that you hand made hers. Awesome!!
More than adorable, this is delicious. I absolutely love the headband and frame. All of the embellishments are perfect. The time and money spent was well worth your efforts, Laura.
TOOOOO CUTE - this is just as sweet as can be. The headband is such a fun touch, and the blanket perfect for a newborn baby. The polka dot paper is perfect for this project. LOVE this card, tip to toe. FAVES
Awwww, so cute Laura! The felt blanket adds such a warmth to the card and the headband....adorable! I hear ya on the cards! I have a few in my stash ready to go now after I dashed out to the store to get a card for a shower the other day and saw the crazy prices for cards now!
I was at a well-known store recently and thought I didn't have enough time to make a baby card for a gift I had for a friend. So I went into the card section and selected a card with a baby swaddled in a felt blanket that I thought was cute and looked handmade. However, when I got to the till, I was shocked at the price of the card. I have made so many for so long that I didn't realize how expensive they are, even when they are not handmade. It was $7.99! So I politely asked the cashier to put it back and said I'd find the time to make one. That card was for a baby boy and had no frame, no bottle, no googly eyes, no sentiment on the exterior, and definitely no baby headband. I added those touches myself to card, along with the inking and two choices of polka-dot paper used. So I guess this one would be worth at least $10. LOL.
I used my Cricut and my Doodle Charms cartridge for the baby head and bottle. And I used my Cricut to cut the shape that the stamped sentiment is on. I used my friend Katie's ("KDQ") cartridge for the frame. I used Fiskars "Sweet Pea" stamps for the sentiment.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CHOOSE TO LEAVE A COMMENT ON THIS BABY CARD. I ALWAYS APPRECIATE IT.
