What a great system! And I agree with Lori, I bet she is proud her Papa still uses it. I bet more farmers would use this system if they knew about it.

POD #3 2013 Calves

These are a few of our 2013 calves. The red tags are fly tags put in this spring at branding time. The pink tags mean the calf is a heifer (girl) and the green tags denote a steer. Our granddaughter came up with the color coding when she was 5 years old. She thought the "little girls" needed pink tags. We have continued to tag them this way since them. When it comes time to wean and ship our calves those colors sure make it easier!
