I always love to go walking along the waterfront in my home town, a beautiful vista and to reacquaint myself with the fantastic Bollards all along the foreshore. Such colourful characters and they never fail to give me a smile. I have stacks of photos of them, and never quite known how to display some favourites so have used a template.

The Bollards are a feature along the Geelong Waterfront and never fail to impress. There are over 100 Bollards from Limeburners Point to Rippleside Park depicting the history of Geelong. The Artist Jan Mitchell was commissioned to create these colourful characters by the City of Greater Geelong back in 1995, transforming reclaimed timber pier pylons. Sadly Jan Mitchell passed away in 2008 and many of the Bollards are now showing signs of the weather, and are undergoing a maintenance and repair program so they can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.
