Love your stories. So how's the tooth now? Funny about the bus, but please do tell me more about that picture of the Greek Mac! Thanks for putting your journal notes in the description as the print is to small to read off of the LO!
Ouch on the tooth and funny story about the bus. Glad that worked out for you! p.s. I HATE mangoes. lol We have a huge tree in our yard that bears fruit all year round, I give them away by the boxful!
The only time I like sea days is after many ports in a row. It feels so good to be lazy. I love your journaling. I feel like I'm right there with you. The mago tarts sounded yummy. How funny about the wrong bus. We did that in one port too. LOL!
Awesome journaling! Your photos are wonderful too. This sounds like such an amazing trip. Getting on the wrong bus sounds like something I might do. :)
Thursday, April 25th – A very restful and much needed sea day! After 6 straight days of running around different cities and countries it was great to have a day to do nothing. We slept until noon, had lunch in the Lido buffet, played trivia twice, went to a show featuring a master pianist and attended a game show (Liar's Club; common on cruise ships). Dinner was in the buffet and we were back in our cabin and ready for bed by 10:00.
Dessert was fabulous – we had mango tarts. A small tart shell with a vanilla custard and topped with nice slices of sweet, ripe mango with mango syrup drizzled over it. I could eat that every day!
On the down side I broke a big chunk off one of my back teeth while eating popcorn when I bit into an un-popped kernel. I'm afraid it will require a root canal and crown. It isn't hurting yet so hopefully we will be able to make it home before taking care of it. If not we will seek a dentist along the way or in Istanbul when we get off the ship.
Friday, April 26th – Had a ball on the Greek Island of Corfu! When we got to the dock we found two women we knew from the ship and decided to hire a cab together for a tour. We went to a monastery, an old palace and we also stopped at several scenic viewing places. After leaving the cab in the center of the old town we ate our ham sandwiches from the ship in a quiet park then walked to an old fort where which we enjoyed exploring.
On the way back to meet the shuttle bus back to the port we couldn't resist stopping for a Hagen Daz mango sorbet.
We found the row of shuttle buses and climbed on. Once we were in route we realized we didn't recognize any of the other passengers - very odd. Then we learned why. Instead of getting on one of the Holland America shuttles we had boarded a Princess shuttle. Didn't really matter though, they were all going to the same place, the entrance to the port. We just kept quiet at that point – we didn't want to be put out on the side of the road! Plus Princess had charged for their shuttles and Holland America didn't so we were riding on the wrong bus for the wrong ship and cruise line without a ticket!
