Love it, love it! What a great dedication to your high school days, a wonderful addition to your BOM! I think I am most impressed with your hidden journaling and organized embellishments. Very nice!!
I love the little file folder with all the hidden journaling....and the Block Letter ...that is very cool...
If it makes you feel any better...I never would do a layout with my own handwriting...but I've been seeing more and more of it and I decided...What the heck....give it a go....I'm sure my grandkids or gr grandkids will appreciate it someday...or maybe not....
This is gorgeous! I love the letter too with pins. What a great idea! You put alot of stuff in the folder! What a great two page lo and can't wait to see your photo once you find it.
This was done for the June BOM Challenge. Topic: Graduation.
The mini file folder holds copies of my diploma, Presidential Academic Fitness Award, the grad. ceremony program, a poem written by my friend entitled, "Farewell to the Class of 1987," a copy of a page listing our class motto, colors, and faculty and staff names, a list of all 137 graduates and some photos from grad night. I will attach a 5x7 photo of me receiving my diploma (as soon as I find it again!) to the flap that covers the hidden journaling which will make that page look much better. BTW, the dark c/s and eyelets are navy blue, not black. TFL!
Hidden Journaling Reads:
For as long as I can remember I wished to graduate from high school so I could get on with my life. My senior year was really strange. Since I only needed a few credits to graduate, I chose to attend school half-day during second semester of my senior year. We were allowed to do that if we had “gainful employment,” which I did. I worked at Rainbow Frozen Yogurt in Kokomo, IN. The majority of my friends stayed at school for the full day. I managed to be ahead of the game by NEVER having a study hall. (I hated study halls because I never had anything to do.) I think I missed a lot by only going half-days, but it got me away from my parents too.
Anyway, I did manage to stay in touch with my friends on the weekends and we had a lot of fun although some of it wasn’t too cool. I can say that now because I know better and I’m thankful I didn’t get killed or put in jail. Back then it was just fun. In hindsight I know how incredibly stupid we were – taking risks we should never have taken.
Graduation night was a whirlwind of activity and commotion. The seniors got out of school a week before the rest of the students, but we had to go back on the last day of school to practice for Graduation. What I remember most about that day are the stink bombs the guys set off in the hallways and everyone wearing sunglasses to the practice. The administration was up-in-arms over both! No one ever admitted to lighting the stink bombs and since no eyewitnesses would come forward, the principal basically just threw a fit. What else could he do? We were told, however, that if we wore sunglasses that evening to the actual ceremony, graduation would be canceled. WHATEVER. We wore our sunglasses. And we all graduated.
The ceremony itself went off without a hitch. It was your basic boring graduation ceremony - Pomp and Circumstance, Invocation, Farewell Address, Turning of the Tassels, yaddah, yaddah, yaddah. However, after the ceremony everyone went home, changed clothes and then returned to the school cafeteria for the Final Fling. Even though we all thought it would be totally corny, we had a great time! It was a Casino theme complete with on-screen horse racing and betting. There were also a lot of raffle prizes. There were envelopes with money in them (up to $100), a small microwave oven, a 13” television, coolers, and several other things I can’t remember. I also remember that I won something but since I have no clue what it was it must not have been a big deal. The party was hosted by parents of the senior class students (not mine, of course) and was from midnight to 6 a.m. What I remember most is that everyone in the class went and there was lots of laughing and joking around. We were a pretty close class and we all had such a good time together. That is also the very last time we were all together as a class.
We did have a 10 year class reunion and most of the class attended, but we had lost one classmate to a serious illness, one was on his honeymoon, and a few just lived too far away.
I have to say that Grad Night was the highlight of my high school days for many reasons
