The journaling reads: In December, 2013, we went to see an exhibit at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia titled Capturing the Moment- The Pulitzer Prize Photographs. The first prize for distinguished Newspaper photography was awarded in 1942. Today there are two categories awarded every year breaking news and features. While many of these pictures were disturbing, and some made me cry, I chose two that show joy and love and made me smile. The first is a 1993 winner called Small Talk. Greg Gibson, the photographer, was covering the Clinton campaign for the Associated Press. As a campaign photographer he found it difficult to find something to shoot. One day Gibson was photographing a campaign stop at a shopping center. " I saw this small boy leaning on the counter and he had his head in his hands and I just knew Clinton was going to stop there. Sure enough, he did and he's talking to the boy and pretty soon Clinton has his hands just like the little boy. I've always thought this was one of his greatest strengths, to connect with anyone he talks to , from a head of state to an average voter, a little child. He really had that connection with people. He made them feel important."

The second photograph is from the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Ken Geiger, the photographer was covering track and field. He had just finished photographing the U.S. women's team winning the 4x100 relay when he noticed the Nigerian women watching the scoreboard. "When it became official that they had won the bronze, they broke into celebration. I had to change cameras to one with a shorter lens. Then I took the photo."
