From the 24th floor, Tom and I took another elevator to the observation deck. The deck is on the 27th floor and overlooks Baton Rouge at a height of 350 feet. The view is spectacular. To the west is the Mississippi River, barges going up and down and the Pentagon Barracks. To the north is the Capitol Lake and petrochemical corridor. To the south is the Capitol Gardens containing the grave and statue of Huey Long and our car at the top of the photo. We didn’t get any photos of the east but you can see the formal rose garden and the Governor’s Mansion. Absolutely breath-taking.
