When I was in high school I was really involved with these spiritual weekend retreats called "Happenings" - they were through the Episcopal church. There is a Methodist and Catholic equivelant that I know of. They are AMAZING events - I can't wait until my daughter is 14 and can go to one. The weekends symbolically take kids through the death and ressurection of Christ. There are talks done peer to peer style and lots of beautiful symbolic acts. It makes Christianity really accesable to kids...Christ's love becomes palpable. Very cool. I was lucky enough to be chosen to be the "rector" for a Happening my senior year. When the new rector takes over, the former rector would "toss the carrot" (a big giant carrot) to the next rector. This layout is about that - me getting the big carrot. I was so excited to get that thing I can't even tell you enough.

Looking back now - I am really happy to have participated in Happening - much of what I felt and learned during those days I have carried with me ever since.
