Altered boot box turned ribbon box. Box was orange so decided to go with a sassy pink and orange theme to try something new. Pretty pleased with results. Got to use my husband's power tools (drill and Dremel Tool) so that was fun! Well... I started with an 11X17 inch shoe box. I painted the two short sides with hot pink acrylic to cover the shoe logo. I drilled 3 holes in each side for the dowels. I dropped the middle dowel down so the ribbon wouldn't bind with the front row when in use. I then figured out how many holes I could fit on the long sides for the ribbon to come through. I made 2 rows, a high and a low, for thinner ribbon on one side. For the lower row, I used large grommets from the camping section. For the upper row, I attatched keyhole plates with mini brads over the holes to finish them off. On the other side, I made one row of slots for thicker ribbon. I drilled them all out with a Dremel tool. To finish them, I glued on flat plain metal frames in 2 sizes. Then I started to decorate! I used the Heidi Swapp foam daisy stamp and white acrylic paint to randomly stamp images on the body of the box. I also stuck some little brad-like handles in the sides to tie random bits of coordinating ribbon to. For the lid, I cut a piece of Sassafrass Pretty Polly in Pink Posies patterened paper to form my main background. Then, using Chatter Box Decorative 2 sided cardstock in Tangerine Eyelet, I cut out the strips of the design and layered them as a border using both sides of the paper. For the lettering, I purchased some adhesive chipboard letters at Keepsake Trends; they were beige, black and white and I couldn't find B's so I made some using the R for a template. I just randomly painted them with acrylic paint. The R and a B are white and I used the same Heidi Swapp foam daisy stamp to embellish with small flowers and polka dots in hot pink. For the I, I used orange acrylic and a white ink pad with a ramdom daisy background rubber stamp. Etc... Etc... Behind the R and O, I used Heidi Swapp Large Floral pink daisies. I stamped randomly around with the white acrylic and foam daisy stamp and embellished the whole thing with ribbon, pink Button-Ups, tags and thread. To finish around the edge of the box, I ran 1.5 inch hot pink grosgrain ribbon through the Xyron and just stuck it on! ... Most items came from Keepsake Trends in Surprise
