I wonder how many moms have been asked to go play yet have said no...I have to do the dishes, make dinner...whatever. the most important thing is to make the most of every day...and yes Mason will know his mom loved him because she wanted to go play! :)

Journaling reads:
I am not an all-star mom. I am not Martha Stewart. I am no where near being June Cleaver. You have gone to school in wrinkled (yet clean) clothes. I’ve opted to give you dry cereal in a bag to eat on the road to school, instead of fixing you an actual breakfast. If I make dinner, the dishes get done the next day, or go into the dishwasher the day after. I make your lunch fifteen minutes before we leave in the morning. You have gone without a bath for a day. You have had a wet-wipe bath before school. You have gone well-past your allotted time for a hair cut. You have had to wear a dirty diaper a little longer because I forgot to bring extras. You have scrapes, scratches, and bruises, along with dirty fingernails that are entirely too long.
BUT…
A day has never gone by when I haven’t told you I loved you at least a million times. I have never disciplined you without feeling horrible about having done it five seconds later. You have never lacked anything you needed. Your car seat is littered with cereal crumbs because I let you sleep in. If the dishes have gone undone it’s because I spent time playing with you in the bathtub instead. You have endured cold wet-wipe baths because we stayed out too late so that you could spend more time with Nana and Papa. You have laughed everyday of your life thus far.
So I ask you, when you look back at your childhood, will you regret that I wasn’t a perfect mom? Or will you treasure the fact that I took the time to laugh and play with you? My hope is that you will see that the things I let fall by the wayside are those that aren’t important in the grand scheme of things anyway. I love you. {June 2006}
