wow-what a fabulous photo and fascinating story...now I'm intrigued about the rest of the story!!! Your page captures the heritage feel beautifully-love that feather!
Beautiful vintage page - love that feather - wonderful photo and story - I'd love it if you would, send me his name so that I could read some more about his fascinating trial ~
I was glad to locate this photo of my great grandfather and his three siblings before they had all moved off and married. It is actually the only photo we still have with his older brother (the tall one) who was notorious in Birmingham in the early 1920's due to his trial for murder. They still study the trial today, as future Supreme Court Justice, Hugo Black, was his attorney and got him off! The newspapers had a heydey with the story, even splashing the front of the NY Times with updates of the trial. My grandmother (who was 16 at the time of the trial) never spoke of it and bore shame about it. Of course, I now know the TRUE (not newspaper reports) story behind the shooting and can't say that my father wouldn't have done the same thing...but that is a tale for another place.
