Wow Melissa, all the textures and color are beautiful! (You make me want to be brave!; as I am quite a scarebaby when it comes to mixed media like you've accomplished here.) The jute type stitching around the photo gives it warmth. I really like the journaling strips near the btm too~
Oh my goodness. I love that photo so much. And you scrapped it very beautifully and with such creativity! I love coming to your gallery for inspiration!
Your pages are so rich with so many wonderful techniques... I really enjoy looking all of it! and this one you made a wonderful work with the colors that match so well with the photo; love it!!
This is beautiful, Melissa! I love the luminescent paint and the way you used the texture sheet with a crackle-paint finish. I also love the glitter, gems, beads, and composition of the page.

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a layout using Gina's Designs Lasercuts. I have scrapped a photo of a cousin visiting from Sweden, his girlfriend, and my Father-in-Law. On this layout, I used texture paste on one of our texture sheets, using it as a stencil. I painted the raised areas with silk acrylics, and outlined them with a gel pen. On the gears chipboard I painted with gesso, followed by copper ink, gold lumieres, a bit of Vintaj patina, and more lumieres in blue. I put a layer of Utee over everything. I rubbed a little gold perfect pearls on the raised areas. There are a few pieces of bamboo leaves. I painted them with gesso, twinkling H20s and silk acrylic. I coated the surface with magic medium. I brushed a little deco art pen on. For the crow at the bottom left, I used gesso, texture paste for feathers, and black acrylic paint. I coated it with glossy accents. I put on a few colors of jaquard mica powders. For the honeycomb at the upper left, i used gesso, and glossy accents. While the glue was wet I poured on embossing powder. I didn't follow with a heat gun, preferring the way it looked dry.
The crow on the left is symbolic of Odin, the god of war in Norse mythology. Einar was always interested in that because of his Swedish roots. There's also a small Swedish flag at the upper right of the photo.
If you look very closely at the right and bottom edges , you can see blue and white blobs. I dripped some vintaj patina paint into some wet gesso . The detail doesnt show up here, but the blue paint fans out like crazy into tiny branches. Its just cool to watch.
There are some items here from my scrappy friends. From Abbygirl the iridescent sequins scattered , and the green gem on the left of the photo. By the flowers at the bottom :a green fern from LynnJ, a piece of green trim from 48SixTime, and a piece of foilage from SheilaMarie. There are close-ups and details on my blog Ribbons, Lace, and Good Intentions. Thanks so much for looking, and if you care to leave a comment I would love it!
