Journaling reads: On Taketomi Island, part of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, there is a beach that has star shaped sand. It is one of four beaches in the world with this unique sand! We had been on vacation on Ishigaki Island and took a tour to Taketomi and were fortuneate enough to be bale to collect some. I had known about this sand, but never knew how and why it existed and why it was so rare. We found out that it isn’t sand at all...it’s as small as sand and the color of sand, but actually it’s the skeletons of tiny sea organisms that only live in these areas of the world. What an awesome thing to experience!
