I was in a Last Scrapper Standing contest this summer and this challenge was to use a Shel Silverstein poem or create one using his style and then create a layout around it. Also we could not use any pictures or names indicating who we were as the scrapper. I was beside myself on what to do and then came up with this. My birthday was fast approaching and I had been thinking about my age – thought I'd so something funny and I used my favorite paper from Urban Lily. TFL!!Here's my “from scratch” poem…lolI'm falling apart, I sayMy hair is unruly and turning gray.I'm getting aches and pains where none used to be.Lord, what did I do to anger Thee?I used to be youthful, vibrant and fun.Now as my next birthday approaches,It's becoming clear I'm no longer young.I am nearing “middle age”.That phrase just stinks – go away!!But in the next moment it comes clear to me,I am as old as I want to be.I'm 25 all over again.Yes, that's it let the fun begin.Put aside those old thoughts, those aches and pains,Find the younger me who's been dancing in the rain.Grab her fast and hold her tight,I won't let her get out of my sight. She's the one I want to forever stay. Now I must go die my hair and rid myself of that gray.
