This layout is very special to me…Thanks for looking. Feb. 2006 BH Sketch. Pattern Paper by Making Memories, Charm by Westrim Crafts. Journaling: Only a week after Parker’s death, the builder broke ground on our long-planned new house. Sadly, instead of preparing the nursery for his arrival, one of our first projects when our new home was finished was creating a memorial in the garden for Parker. We found a beautiful statue that captured perfectly my vision of the angel we had lost. It was placed in the flower bed outside the master bedroom windows along with three rose bushes, so that we could bring the cut flowers into the house to enjoy them longer. The rose we selected specifically for Parker is a Peace hybrid tea, a favorite of mine since childhood when we had one in our garden in Wales. I’ve always loved it’s delicate colors and it’s sweet scent. The hybrid tea rose Peace was named the day that Berlin fell to the Allies in 1945. It is one of the world’s most popular roses, extremely hardy and easily grown in a variety of climates. It is yellow with pink edges and large double blooms and a sweet fragrance. In 1948, it was the first winner from The American Rose Society of the prestigious Gold Medal Certificate, established to recognize varieties that show outstanding performance over a five-year period. Several variations, or “sports”, of Peace are available, including a climbing variety and a hybrid tea named Chicago Peace, which is a much darker pink color.
