I love the stick girls on the sleeping bag with the plates. It's a shame you couldn't find a little pic of Peter Jennings to put in the TV! That would be cool. Great story!
HOLY SMOKES! You were in elementary school during the Gulf War?!? My boyfriend was fighting in the Gulf War and I was graduating from college.. oh, sorry, I got a little sidetracked by the feeling that I'm "OLD!"
But in all seriousness, I think your journaling is fantastic and your paper dolls are really cute! I've seen them done in mags and they always look interesting. I like how you put yours on the "sleeping bag" with the dinner plates. Very neat.
This LO was made for the July BOM challenge. I didn't have a picture of my family eatting dinner in our traditional way, so I decided to "create" a picture using card stock and pattern paper.
I think it came out ok. Although, I think it's a little dull in color.
Anyway, the text reads:
"Dinner time for me and my family was spent in front of the TV watching Peter Jennings host the evening news. But we didn’t just eat on the floor. Steph and I took turns spreading out one of two old sleeping bags onto the floor that we sat on so that if we were to spill anything while we ate, it would get on the sleeping bag…not on the carpet.
We only could talk during commercials, which was when the TV was muted and we shared stories from our day. When Peter came back on Mom or Dad would hush us so we could hear what was happening in the world.
Most people might think that this is a bad way to conduct dinner, but I disagree. This was how I was introduced to the world of current events and politics. Sitting in front of the TV eating dinner every night during the Gulf War kept me more up to date with war than any of my elementary school classmates. To this day I feel lost if I don’t know what’s going on in the world."
