Eyes Wide Shut CK October 2006

<font size=2>One of the layouts from my HOF entry. <br><br>Journaling reads: Cheeks, you surprised me today! I thought, “Oh won’t it be wonderful to show you one of my childhood pleasures with a visit to the Botanical Gardens?” At least, that’s what I thought. I knew you would fall in love with nature’s beauty. And you did but it’s not what moved you the most - nor me. Nope, what moved me was how you retreated into the gazebo. You closed your eyes - CLOSED YOUR EYES at Botanical Gardens - and rocked and hummed a silent prayer to God. I was amazed! And then, I understood. Gardens were a natural part of my childhood; I was use to them. But you were use to sounds of gunshots, police sirens, and shouts of gang violence when you were a child. Nothing like this garden existed in your life. So, to find you in the midst of one of the most beautiful places in West Dallas with eyes wide shut was no coincidence. It was the peaceful man inside of you finding what you always longed for in your childhood… a quiet & serene place to retreat within yourself and talk with God. June 23, 2005. TFL!</font>
