I took a Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink class yesterday. He called it Alcohol Ink “Resist” but it is really a faux resist where the ink is removed.
You use alcohol inks to make a dark background. We did this on a junkitz acrylic tile (in the bottom right corner). Then we stamped an image (dragonfly) with the ink and then rubbed it off with a paper towel. The image came off and looked like we had done resist. You must be very careful to use a particular type of ink. I think they are solvent based. Versafine works and we used Archival Ink.
The next step is to stamp onto white CS using black ink. place your tile onto the CS in a pleasing arrangement and then glue it on. A tiny clear sticker letter is placed on the top. (mine says “create” )
I mounted mine onto purple Bazzil and 2 pieces of patterened paper (some washi from Japan and some cheapie J's paper) The stamps I used on the papers are Club Stamp and Lost Coast. Tim Holtz class stamps are unknown. (Sorry for the blurry scan–my scanner doesn't do bumpy very well!)
