Last summer, we knocked down half of a wall and finished the unfinished part of my basement to make a space for me. I'm finally getting around to posting pics of it. Thanks to all the Peas who painted their rooms red for inspiration! # 1 - VIEW OF THE WHOLE ROOM: Here you can see most of the room. The counters run along three of the walls (the other wall has two doors to laundry and utility but has a cabinet where I store photos and magazines and idea books). Lots of clutter on the counters right now! I love the wood floor that I can roll around on–from my work space to my sewing machine and so forth. I love the red–so energizing. I got those rolling carts that slide under the counters from The Container Store. I have 5 that hold hanging files (4 legal size for my 12 x 12 paper and 1 letter size for smaller paper, plus my old Cropper Hopper) and three with just drawers. Love these! # 2 - BACK WALL: Here's where I keep my sewing machine. Thread goes in one of the drawers on the right (plus some other supplies I don't use as often). My husband is going to drill a hole in the counter so the cords aren't hanging off the front of the counter. On this counter are also stored some idea books (lots more in another cabinet), stackable trays with 12 x 12 cardstock and foam stamps in document holders. More clutter on the counter–various projects I'mm working on.# 3 - SIDE WALL: Here's where I store most of my 12 x 12 patterned papers below the cabinet. Also, the drawer chests (also from The Container Store) hold most of my embellishments.# 4 - FRONT WALL: Here's my work space wall. I plan to get a quote to put on the wall. You can see that the wall opens into the rest of the basement, so I can see the TV. On the right you can see my 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock is at my fingertips.# 5 - STACKABLE DRAWER CHESTS: I got these from The Container Store. I love them. I wish they'd had them in white when I first bought them. They fit a lot of my “lumpy” embellishments, and I have all the drawers labeled alphabetically. They're great because they're not too deep that I have to dig through a lot of stuff to find what I want. They're also easy to pull out and put on my desk to look through.# 6 - SINGLE DRAWER PULLED OUT: You can see how well things fit in here. I have about 15 packages of different MOD and Foofala embellishments in here, and there's still room for more.# 7 - 8-1/2 x 11 CARDSTOCK: I bought this at Staples. It's very sturdy and holds all of my cardstock. I put cardboard under each stack so that I could easily pull out the whole stack to look for just the right color. # 8 - PAPER CARTS: I got these at The Container Store. They're legal-size hanging files. My 12 x 12 paper fits perfectly. I like that the paper is higher; makes it easier to look for the paper. I made labels on cardstock and laminated them and then stapled them to the hanging folders. I also love that they have drawers below for storing stuff. I put the bulkier stuff, like tools in the deeper drawers. I have 5 of these: 1) for distressed-looking/shabby paper, like Basic Grey; 2) one is for more modern/graphic styles, like Chatterbox, KI, etc.; 3) for textured paper/vellums/transparencies, or prints like 7gypsies,; 4) for my monthly clubs; 5) 8-1/2 x 11 for smaller paper and for handmade papers that I cut into smaller pieces.# 9 - CLOSE-UP OF CART #1: Just so you can see things a little closer up. I have to make some more labels for the papers at the front.# 10 - DRAWER UNITS: I have 3 of these, again from The Container Store.. The counters sit on top of them. They're so nice. They slide so easily. There are 6 drawers in each. They're nice and long and fit a lot of stuff, but not too deep that you have to dig through them. I use them to store lumpier embellishments that don't fit in my stackable drawers, stamps, and things like rub-ons and chipboard alphabets. On top is where I store stamp pads. I read that you should store stamp pads upside down. I couldn't find storage that fit my budget until I found this thing. It's meant to store Sizzix die cuts, and I got it at AC Moore with a 40% off coupon. Labels show the colors.# 11 - DRAWER UNITS #2: Just to show you how much stuff can fit in these. This one sits near my workspace and holds stuff I use a lot, like rub-ons, alphabet stickers, etc.# 12 - PAINTS: I saw someone else on Two Peas had these, and I had to have them. They're spice racks.# 13 - RIBBONS: I got these jars at Target. Love all the colors–looks better than candy. I wanted to dress up the shelves, so I bought beaded trim at Michael's. I used glue dots to stick them on, and I see a place that I need to smush back up.# 14 OTHER SHELF: Two more jars of ribbon–neutrals and twill. The little tin basket holds pencils, chalks, and metallic-rub-on-stuff. The brown thing with the handle I got at Michael's and it holds adhesives.# 15 - METAL PLANTERS: I got these metal planters at Michael's and one holds MM rub-on letters and the other holds hole-punches.# 16 - STACKABLE CONTAINERS: I love these plastic stackable containers for eyelets, brads, rhinestones and other tiny embellishments.# 17 - UNMOUNTED STAMPS: I don't have a ton of these yet, but I have lots of room to grow! I have them stored in CD cases with the spines labeled. I got this little shelf-thing at Michael's and painted it. It was real bargain. It didn'tt have a price tag on it, but when the cashier rung it up, it was $1.99–must've been mis-marked! # 18 - BINDERS: Binders hold miscellaneous flat things. Basket holds small pads of paper. Drawer-thing from the hardware store that holds lumpy stuff from the early days of scrapping. On top are embroidery-floss containers storing fibers. ROYGBIV.# 19 - SCRAPS: I put my scraps in manila folders, organized by color. I got these stackable baskets on wheels at The Container Store. I bought two so that it could be high enough to reach. It sits right under the counter where I work.# 20 - MY WORKSPACE: Here's where I work. It usually isn't this tidy! You can see I have the following things at my fingertips: scraps in a rolling basket; rub-ons and letter stickers in drawers to my right, cardstock to the right; brads and eyelets on the wall. To the right of the cardstock are those stackable drawer chests with all my embellishments, and right underneath is the patterned paper. Thanks for looking! ~Debbi T
