Hello! I am so excited to be a guest this month for lisa truesdell's 2012 : captured // class [twopeasinabucket.com]We just returned from an unexpected trip to the Alabama and while I was a week or so behind when I left, I had 4 weeks to complete when I got back, plus an insert for 12 pictures on the 12th of Feb and an insert for our trip. I printed up my favorite pictures of the day, using PS I added journaling or dates to some of the pictures and put them in my pages. Then I went back and lay out my journaling cards and filler cards. //Product Focus :I used digital journaling cards and digital kits to create journaling cards and fillers for my weeks. To keep it cohesive throughout the week, I used papers/kits from February and March Pea Soup Collaborations here at Two Peas. It is very easy to print up your digital journaling cards and then hand write or even type up your journaling, but to speed things along, I copied and pasted my journaling from my blog posts/facebook status on to the journaling cards and then printed them up, ready to trim and insert into my album pages. I like to use matte photo paper (that I buy in bulk from Sam's Club) to print my filler and journaling cards at home. You can also get cool looks from textured white cardstock or Kraft cardstock.week 7: valentine's cookies: I created this journaling card with Angie Kovac's papers, journaling spots and flags. schoolwork: I took a picture of my son's schoolwork and added it to a digital paper by Erica Hernandez and then quoted the story next to it. It's like a little 4x6 layout, then after printing I added a little American Crafts Washi Tape.week 8: Here is something interesting: I used Erica's journaling card to document my son's invention of a lego credit card. The best thing about digital journaling? You can make your text white and as long as you are printing on white, you can print it that way. I also added a few cloud shaped journaling spots digitally to his picture before printing.week 10: I thought about a story I wanted to tell after I printed the picture of my boys sitting in the hallway but had already filled up the journaling card spaces on the page. I simply added the story in photoshop on to a circle shaped accent from Jen Martakis and printed, cut and adhered to my picture.// Adding other voices :While the majority of the journaling in my album comes from me, I also like to add the voices of my family members. One of my very favorite ways to do this is by quoting the fun/funny/meaningful things they say.week 9: while we were out shopping at Harbor Freight, my 6 year old picked up a cowbell and held it up to his constant companion, Honey Bear. He said, “Look Mom, Honey Bear has a cowbell! Maybe we should get a cowbell, in case we ever get a cow.” I then replied, “Jordan, I'm pretty sure we will never ever have a cow.” I thought it was so funny I had to document it. I snapped the pictures in the store and then added the quotes using Speech Bubbles from Hero Arts.I also like to add their own writing. week 9 insert: I had both boys tell the story about how they went fishing while we were in Alabama. I scanned the little's paper and included it in the insert next to a picture of him fishing and I typed in the older's story and included it with another picture. Thanks for looking :)blogged [cutchens.com]
