This is my entry into Kate's awesome circle journal with a food theme. I've always been told that I'm the pickiest eater anyone has ever met, so I decided to make my entry about my “rules” on food. I really don't think I'm as strange as this makes me sound - LOL! It is what it is, right? Journaling reads, “1. Hold the FRUITS and VEGGIES! Yes, you read correctly. I do not eat fruits or vegetables, with the exception of Green Giant canned peas and corn (but, only on the cob with lots of salt and butter). Yes, I am a little worried about my health, but I live an otherwise very clean lifestyle, so hopefully I won't get scurvy like my husband keeps saying I will. Terrible!2. If it doesn't come out of a can or a box, I probably won't like it. Processed food is a dream to me. I don't know what it is exactly, but homemade macaroni and cheese isn't the same as Kraft in the box, and cheese in a can just tastes better to me.3. Anything made in my home is considered ”Homemade“. If I have to turn my oven on and dirty dishes in the process of making something that is going to be consumed by someone – it's ”homemade". Besides, my box chocolate chip banana bread is better than some I've tried by people who mashed the bananas themselves. It's all a matter of finding the right box ;)4. No bones about it – bring on the meat! I refuse to eat any meat that is still on the bone, with the exception of Outback Steakhouse's ribs. They're smoked, so they aren't as slimy and it's really dark in there, which means I don't notice it as much. I'm weird, I know.5. Fish belong in oceans and aquariums, not on my plate! ‘Nuf said. If it swims, I won’t eat it.6. Life is too short and food is too good to diet. Everything in moderation. When I've needed to, I've cut the fat out of my diet to maintain a healthy weight, but I will never sacrifice chocolate and ice cream and all of the other yummy things in life to maintain a certain pant size. Food is a huge part of life and it makes me very happy. I won't sacrifice that.7. Desserts should have a food group all to themselves. Cookies, brownies, ice cream, cake. Not a day goes by that I don't indulge myself in some kind of desserty treat. It makes me happy and tastes ohhhh so good!8. If the dog gets 3 meals a day, so should I. I view my body like a car that needs a healthy supply of fuel to operate - this means 3 meals a day. Breakfast when I wake up, lunch in the middle of the day, and dinner at dinnertime. It baffles my husband how I can be starving at 3 in the afternoon when we haven't eaten a single thing all day. FOOD IS ENERGY and I need it to function. I get very cranky if I miss a meal and I'm not very pleasant to be around. Addendum: The first meal of my day must be a breakfast food, even if it is at 2 in the afternoon! Thanks for looking! Heather
