Bela's CJ topic is “Ode to Joy” and we had to create an entry about something that brings us joy that isn't a person, animal, or anything scrap related. I chose our home. Journaling reads, “Even before Tom and I were married, we knew that we wanted to find a home that we could put our heart and souls into and, hopefully, spend the rest of our lives in. We spent years saving and looking for the perfect house and finally decided to build our own in a new subdivision far out in the country. It was still close enough to our families, work, and civilization, but it was definitely different from any other town either of us had lived in before. We both wanted our children to grow up in a neighborhood where they would make and keep lifelong friends. A place that was not too pretentious, where they would go to school with kids from all walks of life. A place where they would learn to appreciate the things they had by working for them. We moved into our home almost 2 years ago, and every day since we have been working to make it a place we truly love. We have done almost every inch of work ourselves from landscaping, painting, furniture building, flower arrangements, sewing curtains, and even finishing my office/craft room in the basement. It truly has been a labor of love. I love the home that we've created so much and hope that our children come to appreciate it just as much as we do. It truly is the home that we plan to spend the rest of our lives in.” Thanks! Heather
