Well, we finally went on our balloon ride, after it being cancelled twice. It was glorious being up in the air, but there was another, more interesting story to tell, so I went with that.

The pictures weren’t as good as I had hoped…Kept the design simple—hard to fit 7 pics onto a 2-page 8 x 8 spread. Journaling reads:

What they don't tell you when you sign up for a hot air balloon ride is that the balloon pilot has no way of steering the balloon. You drift along on the whim of the wind. And you won't land where you started your journey. What they don't tell you is that you should never ever try to land in a field where there are bulls, for the balloon chaser just won't go there (“Them's bulls in that there field!”). And they don't tell you that those three tanks of propane fuel eventually run out. And those tanks don't care if it's time to land and the wind just took you in another direction where there are only trees and mountains and absolutely nowhere to land. When you sign up for that balloon ride, they forget to tell you that the pilot might start freaking out and yell at you to unbuckle the goddamn tanks so that he can shake them upside down to get that last bit of fuel up to the burner in order to buy some time. What they don't tell you when you sign up for a balloon ride is that you might go crashing right into those trees in a desperate attempt to land in a postage-stamp yard beside a shack in the mountains. And they fail to let you know that you'll get stuck in a 30-foot tree and no matter how hard you jump, the branches just won't give way. And they don't tell you that when you do finally manage to get on the ground, you'll have to struggle with all your might to keep that balloon on the ground–weighing it down with your body and pulling hard on a rope to keep it anchored. There are a lot of things they forget to tell you when you sign up for a hot-air balloon ride, but if it's thrills and adventure you're looking for, you're guaranteed to get them!

Materials: Scenic Route patterned paper.
