I lived in Bolivia three times as kid, for a total of about 2 years. Unfortunately, my parents took no photos. I've been wanting to scrap memories from this part of my life for some time, but just never started because of the lack of photos. I decided to use pictures from the Internet to fill in this gap of my life. Journaling reads:

No one knew what this place used to be, but everyone called it “La Casa Abandonada.” The Abandoned House. It sounds much more sinister in Spanish. It seemed to have once been a religious building–it had arched windows and doorways and some blue-painted arches set into the walls, like the ones you'd see in a church, holding religious statues. This strange adobe building was really just ruins–no roof, no floor, falling-down walls, and piles and piles of adobe rubble in the middle. Everyone thought it was a haunted place. I don't know whether it was haunted or not, but it was definitely creepy. We went inside the Casa Abandonada a couple of times, and it was littered with trash and there always seemed to be a few dead dog carcasses. Mostly, we hung out in a nearby grassy patch surrounded by eucalyptus trees–it was more like a gently sloping, inverted knoll. This place was a short walk from our house, but far enough away so that we could sneak over there to smoke cigarettes. I remember someone showing us that you could pluck a twig off of the eucalyptus trees and place it between your front teeth and twirl the stick and eventually you'd have gum. It tasted pretty nasty–flavorless, really–but we thought it was cool that we could make our own chewing gum. our little patch of grass beside the Casa abandonada was a surprisingly pleasant and peaceful place to hang out.

Materials: Making Memories (kraft and ledger) and Prima (burgundy) patterned papers. 7 Gypsies stickers and rub-on phrases.
