Oooh…I'm SO loving these Basic Grey papers…the ones used here are from the Motifica collection.

When I first saw this photo of my mom as a little girl, I fell in love with it…then when I tried to make the page, I was stumped. What in the world is a 4-yr old doing standing in the snow in Feb wearing a gauzy, summer dress - and do I scrap it as a winter page? My mom has no idea what the occasion was when this was taken, so we've had quite a few chuckles about it.

Since the photo itself was such a “contrast of seasons,” I decided I had free rein to put both summer and winter embellishments on the page, so I did-the flower vs. the snowflake sticker - behind the tag is a vintage photo of people swimming! (The photo frame and ribbon are My Mind's Eye this & that - I did some heat embossing on the ribbon piece). I also heat embossed the grosgrain ribbon at the bottom, using a brown embossing powder, to give the ribbon a tone-on-tone, “brocade” look. The ribbon slide is made with shrink plastic.

The journaling is beneath the photo-the button to the left of the photo is the pull tab. I'm still in the process of finishing the journaling…every time I start it up again, I start chuckling and making wisecracks aimed at Heaven, wondering just WHAT my Granny was thinking letting my mom outside dressed like this - just look at that pile of snow…heeheee…

I also used the Vintage BG letter stickers for part of the title. “WINTER” is double-stamped with MaVinci's Graven u/c.

The quote under the mica on the tag reads, “Always maintain a kind of summer, even in the middle of winter.” by Henry David Thoreau.

The information on the bookplate looks a little “wonky” because I removed my mother's last name from the post copy for security reasons.

TFL! Hope you're having a great weekend, all!!! Kathy
