My little nephew in his pool earlier this summer.

Cardstocks: Making Memories; Bazzill
Vellum: Hot off the Press/Paper Pizazz
Eyelets: Making Memories
Fonts: DC Make a Wish; Misproject; American Typewriter Condensed

Rather than make the photo the full 12” wide, I made it 10” wide, and used strips of matching cardstocks on the sides of the photo, to give the page a little more dimension.

Since this layout will go in his album, I've written the journaling as if my sis was speaking to him. The journaling reads, “Johnathan, this is the photo that I’ll remember when I think back to your very first summer—it’s one of my favorite photos of you.You were 10 months old when this photo was taken. Your daddy was home from his overseas deployment, and although he left when you were only a few months old, there was no separating the two of you upon his return home. Your little sister hadn’t arrived into the family yet, so you had your Daddy’s attention all to yourself. The SMILE never left your face all summer long!

Splashing in your pool…practicing your walking with Daddy…playing with your toys…learning and saying more words all the time…sweet memories of watching you grow and thrive in the summer sunshine. As exciting as it is to watch you grow, it’s a little sad, too…I sometimes wish you could stay little for just a bit longer.

Just remember, sweet son…no matter how big you get, or how old you are, you will always be our dear little boy, and we love you!”

TFL!
