I'd been toying with the idea of sewing for awhile but once I stumbled onto all of the amazing fabric designs (so many from some of our beloved scrapbook designers!) I knew I was done for.

For this layout, I cut out the “quilt” letters from the patterned paper. The “girl friday” bit is from the ID strip on the bottom of one of the papers - so fun when you can incorporate some relevant packaging into a layout!

Journaling reads:
1575 square inches of fabric goodness. when I started to teach myself to sew, I knew I would like it. a few small projects under my belt convinced me I was ready to tackle something a bit bigger. hence izzy's crib blanket. it’s the first project that’s made me *love* sewing.

I hesitate to call this a quilt what with the lack of binding and quilting and the less-than-5-hour time frame it took to assemble. it does have a top, soft and fluffy middle and bottom layer though. I don’t feel quite qualified to label myself a quilter just yet.

I just plain love it though. every stitch. and the appliqued bits - I’m especially proud of those. that and the little girl I made it for. oh, and the fabric. one of my favorite scrapbook lines ever in fabric form. heaven. I can’t adequately describe the satisfying little thrill of matching my sewing projects to my paper projects. I’m a novice sewer but a champion stash builder. and much of my stash is derived from patterns already found in my mountain of scrapbook paper. yeah, this could be dangerous.

my scrapbooking has unfortunately tailed off a bit but knowing that I can document my sewing love in a perfectly coordinated manner might just buoy my scrapbook motivation again. I’m really fantastic at justifying my addictio…errr, hobbies. APRIL 2010
