These little happy faces just make me happy…and he is SO proud when he draws them! I scanned a bunch of his drawings and turned them into a brush set - that's what I used on the journaling card. Seriously, what is cuter than smiling little heads with arms and legs projecting directly out of them :p I tried to emulate Cathy B's amazing masking tape backgrounds digitally here…and it's a little love letter to Tia's digital goodies as well :)

STEPS:
1. Open a new 17“ x 11” canvas (I do all of my double page digital spreads on one canvas then crop for printing). Fill background with blue and texturize.
2. Open the masking tape element and layer on background until it's covered. Merge all of the layers and change to overlay mode.
3. Open painted masks brushes and stamp in red. Duplicate layer and rotate 180 degrees for opposite side.
4. Layer paper bag element over painted layer. Add photo and journaling dates on the bag.
5. Add 2 black and white photos on left hand page. Open photos mask template, resize to 4“ x 6” and use as a clipping mask for the color photo. Mat photo on white and add to right hand page.
6. Open index card element, place on layout and add journaling. Use brushes created from drawing to add figures in the lower right corner of the card.
7. Add staples and drop shadows as desired.

CREDITS:
masking tape: Joined at the Hip
painted brush set: Matted
paper bag: Junk in the Trunk
photo mask: Template Crazy: the Sequel
staples and index card: Stuck on You
font: Melissa
