This Deep South snowfall was the first snow she had ever seen and you would have thought that there was ten inches of the white stuff rather than the just over one half inch that fell last Saturday. Journaling: I am four and one half and today is the day that I saw my very first snowflake! My daddy told me last night that there could be some snow the next morning and when I woke up it had not come . . . but, pretty soon the beautiful white flakes of snow began to fall to the ground. It wasn't too long before Daddy told me that we had enough snow to build a snowman! We raked the snow into a pile and then made a big mound and I asked Monnie for a carrot to use as his nose and then I had went into the house to get a hat for my snowman. I gathered up a little white hat, an apron, a lei from my dress up box and the new purple purse that I got for Christmas and took them all outside. I dressed my snowman up and then I decided that he wasn't a snowman at all; he was a snow lady! I named her my Snow Hiker and she watched while I played with Daddy and we slid down the little hill in our backyard. I was getting pretty cold so Daddy and I went inside and had some good hot chocolate with marshmallows on top to warm us up!P.S. . . . none of us could figure out why she named her snowman “Snow Hiker”! Mary just looked at us like she didn't know why we were asking when we questioned the name. I think that she looks like she is eyeing the crossbeam of a bridge to see if it is level enough to hold 50 cars! So serious this little one can be.
