I'm scanning this old layout for someone on the GS that wanted to see some layouts with newspaper clippings. I couldn't find lightly colored PP so I made this background paper by measuring out the tiles and chalking it. The newspaper articles are from the Courier Journal in Louisville in 1999 when ds was able to compete in the USA National Scholastic Chess Tournament with 1,700 other students. The photos on page two are really dark because the rooms we were in were just huge and they didn't want flash photography. The little chess pieces came in a package with the chess box and I think they're Jolee's but it's been over 3 years so I'm not sure. I journaled on the computer about how ds was always one of the last players left in the room still competing. It was a VERY long weekend with some games lasting over 6 hours and exhaustion took over causing him to make a couple of bad moves. Just in case you're interested, he came in 6th in his division and 24th overall for the high school. Yeah, I'm a little proud!
