I've had the journaling for this one typed out for awhile - it's modified from a blog entry. I asked his teacher for a purple bead the other day and thought the title here really fit the story. As the bead was purple, there really isn't a lot of purple paper out there. The graphic feel of this American Crafts paper appealed to me. I really enjoyed using the Making Memories Grommet to highlight the bead - it is backed with transparency and appears to float when held up.

Paper: American Crafts Carroll, American Crafts Shakespeare.
Brads: American Crafts Silver.
Cardstock: White Bazzill.
Grommets: Making Memories Grommet Setter, silver grommets.

Journaling:

flirting with disaster

monday, november 6, 2006 2:37 pm

the phone rings…

i hear, “hello, mrs. smith. this is the school nurse. adam gave us quite a scare this afternoon.”

“oh no!” that's all i'm thinking….

“in 15 years of nursing i have never dealt with this situation. adam had a purple bead up his nose.”

ok so i laughed…

“he said it fell in his nose.”

ok so now i'm trying not to snort…

“i had to call the medical consultant because i didn't know what to do. he recommended pepper…”

about to pee my pants here…

“and then to try blowing hard. i decided to try the blowing hard first. the bead popped right out.” she goes on to tell me that you are back in class and doing fine.

of course, upon further investigation I find out that the incident occurred when you were at rest time and there was no one around you - no apparent reason why you did it. i don't think you will ever do it again though. you not only gave the nurse a scare, i think you scared yourself too.
