I made this for Nichol for her stamping and scrapbooking class. This month is embossing. I used it subtly throughout my layout to help enhance it. First I cut my title out with my Silhouette. I then used different Hero Arts background stamps to stamp on my letters with Versamark. I used clear embossing powder and then heated. I love the subtle look it lends to my title to help it pop a bit.Next I took an Ali Edwards stamp from Technique Tuesday and stamped it with Versamark on a sheet of heatable transparency. I used White embossing powder this time to make it really pop off my photo. I adhered the transparency with a small touch of Glossy Accents behind the letters. That way you can't see it.I then moved onto the buttons. I really wanted to use some flowers to go with all this yummy Doodlebug paper. I didn't have any that worked so I decided to use some of my favorite flower stamps, some colored embossing powders and some some buttons. It was very simple. I used clear stamps, ink with Versamark (see a pattern here…LOVE this stuff for embossing), I very gently lined the stamp up over the button using a clear acrylic block, stamped the image and lifted. The button comes up a bit but usually falls off within a second. I then poured on the colored embossing powder, heat set and then added some ribbon to some and adhered them with a pop-dot. The buttons are very hot. I suggest using a pair of tweezers or a hole poking tool through the button hole to hold it on the table while you emboss.and lastly…the little heart on the tag. I just cut a small tag from chipboard, inked it with Versamark and then used red embossing powder. I heat set this a little more than the others as I wanted a deeper red. Some embossing tips:If you have any powder for pre-embossing I would suggest using it on the buttons first. I use “Faith's Little Miracle” you can still find it on the www. I bought mine over 10 yrs ago and it's still like new. I do believe that EK Success just came out with the Powder Tool. It's the same thing. (It's not here in the store or I would link it) Just Google it and you can find it. :)As for the rest….I accidentally made a pocket. I hadn't intended this to be a pocket page, I had put the vellum over the My Mind's Eye paper to dull the color of it a little (Thanks Nichol for that tip) and when I stitched it I never thought about the top flap. It worked to my advantage though. I decided to burn the song to a CD for my daughter. I decorated the cd with a Design Kit that I own for CD's.The journaling is the lyrics to the song “SMILE” by Uncle Kracker and was done on a clear ink-jet transparency. I used October Afternoon stickers and typed on them by running them through my printer. I also added a journaling tag behind the photo (blue strip paper with white button/red flower)to say some things to my daughter.I hope I answered any questions you may have. Thanks to Nichol for this awesome class, to be a guest designer and totally motivating me to get my pages done! You ROCK girl! :)
