Journaling is as follows:
I love this song by the Dixie Chicks! I am not the biggest country music fan and, at first, Natalie Maines' voice irritated me, but after actually listening to the lyrics to this song, I was hooked! This song came out at a time in my life when I still lived at home, a place where you did as you were told and decisions were made for me and my siblings. I dreamed of having the freedom to do what I wished, to make my own mistakes, and to experience life like many Americans. I listened to these lyrics and made them mine one day, deciding to move out into my very first apartment, much to the disappointment of my parents. It had always been understood that their children would not be moving out of the family home unless they married. Here I was, twenty-five years old, a single female, shaking up my parents' belief system. I wanted breathing room, a place where I did not have to share my belongings with four other brothers and sisters, a place where phone calls were not monitored, a place where my every move was not noted, a place to call my very own. Like the song, I needed wide open spaces, room to make my big mistakes. I feel blessed to have experienced this and, in the end, I believe my parents understood.
Doodlebug Design and the Green stack pp;AC, CBX, MAMBI, DD letter stickers, MM flower brad, silk flower from Michael's, SP Purkage and Century Gothic fonts.
