For the childhood challenge about food. Journalling reads: Pa's Nan was a big believer in home remedies when we were sick. One of her favourite cures for a sore throat was to feed us butter balls. To make these, she took a teaspoon and scooped up a small amount of butter which she rolled into a ball and coated it in sugar. Her reasoning was the butter would soothe the throat (it works in Butter Menthols, right?) while the sugar would scratch our throats and take away that persistent itch. Together these two ingredients would make us feel better. Somehow we always thought they worked their magic. This is still a remedy we talk about in our family although we no longer find butter balls as appealing as we once did.

PP's are AC (background) and DCWV.
