Journalling reads: We have had a painting at home of the Bendigo Cathedral for as long as I can remember. Nan and Ray always had a copy of the same painting hanging in their home. This painting holds a special place in our family history as one of the bricklayers who helped build this cathedral was Johnny Wellington. Two of Johnny's sisters were Pansy (whom I remember visiting in Bendigo) and Ellen, who was Ray's mother . The cathedral was built in two stages: the first from 1897 to 1901 and the second from 1954 to 1977. Stonemasons from Italy, Britain and other European countries were brought in to work on this project and they were joined by local plumbers, electricians and bricklayers.

I don't know what years Johnny worked on the cathedral but I'm hoping to find out some more details and have left space in my journalling to add whatever I learn.

Papers are K&Co and MM, MM fabric tab, Kaiser flower, unknown washer and metal letters, Collections bookplate (the black frame around his initials), SEI iron ons.
