A layout about my grandfather Ray.

Journalling reads: The relationship we share with Ray has always been different from the one we shared with our other grandparents. Sometime in the mid to late 1980’s he suffered a series of strokes, one of which took away his ability to walk and talk. Although Wayne and I have memories of him before this, Lynne and Lisa are not so lucky.
For them, his story really starts with his rehabilitation. With therapy and a great deal of stubbornness, he has regained some of the motor functions he lost. There are still plenty of tell tale signs: his limited use of one hand, his permanent limp, our conversations phrased as closed questions because although he knows the words in his head, he cannot make them come out of his mouth.
But this is not a story of tragedy. These things have changed the relationship we share with him for the better. I remember as a young child being scared of this big man whom I saw only as he went to work in the morning and at night as he sat in front of the tv drinking beer and smoking Drum cigarettes he rolled himself. Now we treat him as more of an equal. We call him out on his stories, and laugh about the mischief he still gets up to. He shows only strength, even while revealing his weaknesses to us. His determination shows in his actions, and I would be very happy to know I resembled him, if only a little.

PP was a freebie from a magazine, HS chipboard alpha, MAMBI fabric tag, Pebbles Inc metal tag, MM washer, misc ribbon. TFL!
