A random lo about one of my favourite things. Journalling reads: I will probably never use most of these buttons, but I cannot bear to part with them. The jar came from my mother’s sewing collection, and the many of these buttons were already in the jar. This jar is not just a random collection of buttons; it is also a snapshot of my fashion past.
This purple button was on my very first dressing gown. Made of quilted purple material, it was slippery soft to touch. Mum recalls my dressing gown was so long it touched on the floor when I walked, and one of her early memories of me is walking down the corridor in our local hospital on my way to visit my grandfather after a car accident we were both in.
The elephant and apple buttons were on little sundresses sewed by Ray’s Nan. Cute little dresses in blue or green on white fabric, with ruffles on the shoulder to form the sleeves, and trimmed with ric rac. She made a lot of my clothes when I was a toddler and often included these whimsical touches.
I cannot remember the outfit that the heart button adorned; it could have been another dress or cardigan and was undoubtedly made by Ray’s Nan.
The flower button was (I think) on a small white cardigan. It has always been one of my favourite buttons in this jar. ~TFL if you're still with me.
ETA: sorry the scan is a little funny, I don't think my scanner handles buttons with shanks particularly well!
