Just a lo from my visit to Arlington in June this year. Papers are Bazzill and Basic Grey; K&Co paper clip thing (that's the technical term!); Chatterbox star tacks, misc tags and twill, and the top from a bottle of vodka!
Journalling reads: It took us two attempts to actually make it inside Arlington National Cemetery. The first time we followed the signs out of Washington DC, over the bridge, around the roundabout, over the bridge, and back into DC in front of the Lincoln Memorial. We drove beside the two mile stretch of DC known as “The Mall”, across the bridge, around the roundabout, cut off a truck, took a sharp turn to the left, and found ourselves at Arlington. We collected our tourist map from the information desk, and headed off. It was really hot and we were on a tight time frame trying to make it to Ohio the same night, so our visit only allowed us enough time to visit the JFK burial site. I had hoped we could see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, but time was not on our side. The cemetery was everything I imagined it would be. The grounds were beautiful, with old shady trees lining every road and walkway and I was surprised to find that the white headstones Arlington is famous for stretched as far as the eye could see. Everything about Arlington National Cemetery is significant, a point that was brought home to me when I read about Arlington House. This beautiful old building once belonged to General Lee of the Confederate Army. The Yankees captured the home and the surrounding area, and to ensure General Lee could never return, they buried their dead around its perimeter. Today it stands on the hill overlooking JFK and Jackie’s graves, and further down to the Lincoln Memorial.
TFL!
