This is a bunny that was given to me by my first boyfriend, Jesse, when I was 16. Journaling is inside the flaps on the bottom right, on some stapled pieces of paper.

Journaling Reads:

This is a bunny that Jesse gave to me. The day he gave it to me was a really rough day for us. A friend of mine was visiting from Manitoba for the month, and was beginning to get on my nerves so I was really stressed out. My mom left for work that morning and shortly after she left the phone rang. Assuming it was my mom calling to remind me to do some chore around the house, I was pretty crabby when I answered. It wasn't my mom, it was Jesse. He had moved back into his dad's place while he was out of town and that morning had woken up to his dad's neighbour and a police man standing in his bedroom. His dad had passed away while on his camping trip. Jesse was a mess. His dad had been asking him to move back in with him for quite a while and it was supposed to be a surprise for him when he came home the next day. When he told me I can remember actually having to grab onto the wall I was standing beside to stop myself collapsing in disbelief. We had made some plans for that day and I asked if he was still going to be coming, and told him I would completely understand if he didn't. I was a little bit worried about him making the drive after this news. He said he was definitely still coming, that he needed to be with me. He also said he had a surprise for me. He had mentioned this before but I had totally forgotten about it until he said this. I was having a pretty hard time being excited about the surprise but I couldn't wait to see him. After I told my friend what had happened I phoned my mom to tell her. She told me if I wanted to talk to someone to go across the street and talk to her friend, who I babysat for and got along really well with. My friend was sick and being really annoying about it, so I did go across the street until just before I had to go and catch the bus to meet Jesse. When I met up with him he had this bunny sitting in the front seat of his car! He had driven the whole way from Victoria with it there, it was pretty funny to see. Our evening together didn't go all that great. We left the restaurant with our whole dinner in a doggy bag since he had spent most of the time on the phone with family members and finally decided he should just take me home. When he dropped me off it was pretty late and we all (me, my mom, and my mom's friend) talked him into spending the night rather than make the drive home. We stayed together for a couple of months after all this, and I have since lost a lot of the little keepsakes I had from our relationship, but this bunny has stayed with me, and still gives me comfort on rough nights. I remember when he first gave it to me it smelled like his cologne, and I would snuggle up with it when I went to bed after we talked on the phone. It was so comforting. The night that we broke up I held onto that bunny all night, crying into it, trying to catch that scent. I love my bunny!
