This week's challenge was to scrapbook about a veteran. I chose to scrap about DH's dad.Journaling: Lt. Cmdr James Leslie Davies served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. In 1943 he was transferred to the HMS Suffolk, a light battle cruiser, which was sent on convoy to Murmansk in December of that year. The winter storms were brutal, causing massive ice buildup. These convoys were constantly at risk for strafing from the air, underwater mines, and submarines. They lost 27 of 38 ships during that convoy, which Jim said was the worst he experienced. On the homeward voyage, he was caugt in the blast of a shell and knocked unconscious for sixteen days. Luckily, his ship made port after eight days and he awoke in hospital in Scotland. Digital supplies: K.Pertiet Blueline Botanical paper (recolored), Photo Clusters 5; Meredith Fenwick Legible Notecards.
