Another Morocco LO!Journaling reads: No. 1 on my list to see in Fez were the world famous medieval tanneries. They are over 500 years old and still use the same curing and dying methods that were used in medieval times. They cure sheep, goat and camel hides, then dye them with saffron, indigo and poppy - no chemical dyes used there! When you go up to see them, they give you a sprig of mint to smell because the tannery odor is so overpowering.
